BACKGROUND
Kate Chopin was born in St. Louis but was raised in New Orleans, so she’s one of those frenchy type people. This story is about racism.
MAIN CHARACTERS
Desiree: She has a baby, obviously.
Armond Aubigny: He is Desiree’s husband.
PLOT
This is a really short story. There is this chick named Desiree. She is half black. She was abandoned when she was younger and adopted by this rich white family, called the Valmondes. So, Desiree marries this guy Armond. Then she has a baby. 3 months after the baby is born the husband gets mad. He notices the baby is black and that Desiree is black. So he kicks her out of the house. Then he finds a letter from his mom to his dad saying that his real mom is a black woman. Boy does he feel stupid.
